Super Bowl Time Period Entertainment Venue Riverplace Station Announced

Jacksonville, FL September 17, 2004 -- Joe Hockenbury, General Manager, Radisson Riverwalk Hotel, Jacksonville, Florida, announced that the property surrounding the hotel would be turned into one of the largest venues for Super Bowl 2005.

"We will open the site on January 28, 2005" Joe said "and close the day after the Super Bowl game in Jacksonville, February 7, 2005." The site is expected to include 2-story Riverfront private hospitality suites, 40 to 60 marketplace shoppes, unique foods and beverages, a live act/stage area with capacity for up to 15,000 people, two large party tents, and one large entertainment tent.

A contract to bring in one of the largest ferris wheels in the U.S. is nearly concluded. "This venue, titled Riverplace Station, is the only large venue on the Southbank of the River, it is located directly across from the Alltel Jaguar stadium, and is within 100 yards of the 2005 NFL Experience" added Joe.

Transportation options to the site are remarkable. A water taxi makes two stops along the venue's 700 yard riverfront, the city's monorail(skyway express) makes scheduled regular stops just steps away from the property and a planned transportation hub will provide dropoff and pickup throughout the event. "Take a look at the riverwalk that runs in front of the property!" said Joe. Pointing out the mile long river walkway that extends along the St. Johns river. "The Northbank riverwalk and Southbank riverwalk will be connected via the closed Main Street bridge (closed for three to four days)." Joe said as he motioned toward the bridge.

"We wanted to create a venue that would provide those "With Ticket" and those "Without ticket" an opportunity to enjoy the city, its river and the events." Joe pointed out. The Jacksonville Host Committee expects nearly 400,000 people per day to enjoy riverfront events for the four days leading up to the Super Bowl game. In addition, 200,000 are expected to enjoy the NFL Experience for another eight days. "Don't forget the fireworks and lighted bridges!" Joe exclaimed.

The city of Jacksonville has paid a large sum of money to local engineering firms and lighting companies to light the five local bridges within site of the hotel to create a dramatic visual affect. Also, three nights of fireworks are planned leading up to the "Big Game".

When asked about entertainment, Joe said,"We are negotiating with one of the top two soft drink companies to bring in a stage, A level entertainment and a large jumbotron. "These negotiations are ongoing and should be completed soon." he said as he walked the planned stage area.

"We have made arrangements with professional event planners, food vendors and tent companies to ensure the success of the event." Joe Hockenbury stated. Needless to say, whether you have a ticket to "The Game" or not, Riverplace Station should be a destination for you, your clients and guests. As we wrapped up the interview, Joe said "Just look at the river view! This site has been scouted for months by the press and sports television shows. It will be a successful project! People will have fun."
