Dujeous Rolls Out Of City Limits To Get Live

NEW YORK, NY April 27, 2004--For those lost in the spin cycle of the conventional DJ/Emcee rotation, the seven piece Hip-Hop collective Dujeous is about to throw a live wire into the murky waters of the hip hop status quo with their April 6, 2004 release "City Limits." Out exclusively on Third Earth Music and distributed through Caroline, the LP is the first for Dujeous after numerous singles including "Sometimes/The Rules" and "Good Green".

"Since this was our first album in ten years together the main goal was to balance all aspects of our sound, of seven complex people. Our music is focused on balancing diverse thoughts, genres, individuals and their respective voices in a way that helps forge a middle ground in the commercial/underground rap split," said Bassist Apex of Dujeous.

Dujeous, pronounced doo-gee-us, is a collaborative group that means to mark a balance in the rhyme to rhythm ratio. Rewinding through music history, selecting only the purest musical forms and applying the truest Hip-Hop aesthetic for reinvention, Dujeous understands the universal influence that every form of music possesses. The group is composed of the eclectic emcee skills of Mas D, Mojo and Rheturik, while Apex (Bass), Taylor Rivelli (guitar), Dave Guy (trumpet), and Tomek (drums) complete the scene with live instrumentation manipulation of a multi-genre fusion of reggae, rock, jazz and more.

In ten years, Dujeous has matured against musical stagnation by embracing the physical borders and barriers that catalyze the creativity of New York City, "NY is really the driving force for our friendship and our music. It feels like only seven people like us could have found each other in a place like NYC, said Apex, where everything is jumbled together and you're exposed to everything."

From the erratic exposure of the city, Dujeous is not only as awe-inspiring as a sound that cannot be bound by one form or another, but equally astounding as a group with a fresh insight into the operation of their own personal parameters within the city's borders. "On City Limits we're talking about the internal barriers of the street grid, of the city, etc," said Apex.

But the fresh redefinition doesn't stop there, Dujeous is also easily adding a new dimension to the idea of "get live," and even more heart to the idea of "old school." To understand look no further than the name, "it's a word that Rheturik, Mojo and Mas D made up in third grade to whom and what they thought were dope. Overtime it really has come to mean that good indescribable stuff," said Apex.

With the quick burn rate of the phoenix-like-personality of popular music, Dujeous is reviving and reconnecting all formats of music under the pairing of a lesser-heard sound equipped with a fully loaded Hip-Hop aesthetic.

Inevitably, Dujeous will redefine all the terms of the game in heart and in skill, for themselves and for you. And in the meantime, all they'll ask you to do is get live and mean it.
